After a long battle with cancer, One Life to Live alum Eddie Alderson (ex-Matthew Buchanan) is happy to share that he has won the fight and is fully healthy once more.

Former One Life to Live star Eddie Alderson (ex-Matthew Buchanan) has shared some extremely wonderful news. After a three-year battle with lymphoma cancer, he is now completely cancer-free.

The beloved Llanview family member shared the happy news on Monday, taking to Instagram with a heartfelt message of gratitude and celebration about the relieving turn of events.

"Today is a good day. A damn good day. For the most part I've been quite private and selective about updating the status of my health the last few years. I've shared some of the down times and some of the good times. Today, I had a scan that showed no active disease in my body. For the first time in the past three years, I am done [with] chemo and treatments," he wrote. "To think of all the ups and downs I (we) have gone through, this day is worth celebrating."

He continues, "I've used the phrase 'No Surrender' these past three years to hopefully inspire some of you that nothing is worth giving up over. I was diagnosed with stage four cancer and look at where I am today. I am fucking proud of this day. I am proud of myself and ALL of the people who are fighting today or have fought. The impact that my family and friends and all of you've had on me has given me the drive to fight. I will always fight and spread awareness for #LLS. This may not be the end of my fight, but this [is] as damn close as you can get to shutting the damn door on cancer and saying GOODBYE. I will always be ready to fight. #NoSurrender"

Shortly after Alderson shared his good health news, his proud sister Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr Manning, OLTL; ex-Kiki Jerome, General Hospital) also weighed in on her brother's celebratory moment.

"No Surrender! Celebrating my amazingly brave, wonderful, & cancer-FREE brother tonight & EVERY DAY!!" she posted on Instagram along with photos of them together.

Fans who have followed Alderson's cancer journey and supported the actor through the ups and downs know that the way he's handled the experience has been extremely inspiring. When he first shared his scary news with the public, he kept a positive attitude along with the message: "While the journey will not be easy, I know that together with all of my family and friends, we will beat this! Just a bump in the road on this crazy ride we call life!" And before a long-term hospital stay in which he received a stem-cell transplant, he wrote, "This will not be easy, but no worries, I got this."

As he is happy to share now, Alderson did have this, and the entire soap opera community is thrilled to be sharing in the celebration of his hard-earned cancer recovery.
